Day Array

The day array program is a program that is designed for individuals with developmental disabilities, they come to the facility Monday-Thursday. This is a non traditional day array program that is designed around everything dog related. Our consumers who choose to attend the program get the opportunity to learn dog training techniques, different breeds, and anything dog related. The consumers worked with our original friends, who are already trained and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certified. Once the consumers understand the basics of training a dog, they will get the opportunity to work with a shelter dog from the Allen County Dog Warden's Office. By working with a shelter dog, with little to no knowledge of obedience the consumers get to put all of their experience to work teaching the shelter dog obedience and eventually putting the dog through the CGC test, which in return makes the dog more adoptable.

The consumers visit various nursing homes in the area with the Friends who are CGC trained. This brings joy to the residents of the nursing homes and also builds confidence in the social skills of the consumers. We also go to the Allen County Dog Warden's office where the consumers volunteer by walking the dogs and even bathing the dogs.

We are in the process of starting up a reading program. This program will allow the consumers to take the dogs into local schools and children K-3 will get the opportunity to read to the dogs.

If you would like more information regarding the day array program and know someone who is interested in attending please visit the contact page and contact us. We have several openings left for the program and would love to share this non traditional day array program with others in the local area!
